Part 2: Offsite Search Engine Optimization

Any hyperlink from an external site linked back to a targeted site is called a backlink. Any effort to increase the number of backlinks is called link building strategy.

Link building is an offsite SEO strategy. Every backlink is like a vote received. Search engines will refer to this as a metric to adjust the Search Engine Results Page (SERP) position. Sites with a large number of ‘votes’ become popular.

Backlinks are divided into two major categories: do follow links and no follow links. Do follow links are the link-passing link juice, which help to improve Google Page Rank (PR), whereas no follow links do not transfer link juice. There are various ways to get backlinks, such as directory submission, article submission, signature links, blog comments, social bookmarking, link exchanges etc
